Migrating Bison Herd Panorama

Migrating Bison Herd Panorama

With a record-setting amount of snow falling this month, many elk and bison are late in getting to the National Elk Refuge from Grand Teton National Park. Typically when snow blankets the valley floor, all the bison and elk have made their way into the refuge, but with so much snow coming so early, this bison herd was a little slow in arriving. I was hoping to get some closer shots, but with all the hunters in the area and the unforgiving weather, I did what I could with this.

  1. I really like this one, a panorama to get lost in 🙂 It takes me back to the wild west, to dreams about what life was like then, for the bison and the men living in this place. This photo would make a nice one to hang up on the wall!

    • Thank you, Øyvind! I think that’s one of the aspects I love about this area – that I can still get a glimpse of what life was like before interstate highways and big cities began spreading.

  3. Awesome shot Mike, love the look especially the added element of the bison. Really makes me want to get down there some time..
