Black Wolf in the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone National Park

712M Black Wolf

This wolf is the alpha male of the Canyon Pack, 712M, in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming as of May, 2009. He was found in the Lamar Valley. When there’s a wolf or bear out in the open in Yellowstone National Park, it’s extremely rare to get a unique shot since there are other photographers standing right next to you. I’m proud to say though, there isn’t another shot like this anywhere else. I was completely alone as his yellow eyes looked right into me as I was driving out of Yellowstone.

  1. Wow, check out those eyes. Great telephoto shot, a nice foreground, engaging subject, great OOF mountains. Great image made of a great opportunity, well done!
