Agathla Peak and Thunderstorms in Monument Valley

The last time I drove through Monument Valley, it was over Memorial Day weekend in 2008. Many residents of Arizona will remember that weekend for a while because in addition to massive thunderstorms rolling across both high and low deserts, the high country received as much of 17 inches of snow! And in late May, no less! During that time some friends and I were on our way to Moab, Utah driving through Monument Valley as the last of the storms were fighting to keep active for a little while longer. This shot is of Agathla Peak, one of the first landmarks you see upon entering Monument Valley from Kayenta, Arizona.
