Reflections in Phelps Lake

Phelps Lake Reflection

I headed out with a couple of friends yesterday for a day-hike into Death Canyon in Grand Teton National Park to personally check on the snow levels deeper into the Tetons. I wasn’t expecting much as we approached the Phelps Lake Overlook on our way into the canyon, however the scene that unfolded as we crested the ridge was a surreal scene of spectacular natural beauty.… Keep reading...

Oxbow Bend Winter Panoramic

Dawn at Oxbow Bend

Oxbow Bend Winter Panoramic

I recently spent a few days up in Grand Teton National Park, finally taking advantage of a friend’s offer to use their guest bed at the employee housing of Jackson Lake Lodge. I spent much of my time in the Oxbow Bend area hoping to see some wildlife, but I only saw one fox who could run faster than I could grab my camera.… Keep reading...

Fall Colors at Oxbow Bend

Fall Colors at Oxbow Bend, Grand Teton National Park

Fall Colors at Oxbow Bend

Yesterday I was hoping for a dramatic sunrise over the fall colors at Oxbow Bend in Grand Teton National Park. I was a little disappointed not just in the amount of photographers lined along the water’s edge, but also in an overcast sky that eventually brought some more heavy snowfall. Before the snow started to fall again, I headed just east of Oxbow Bend to the next pullout to get away from the crowds and get what turned out to be, in my opinion, a much more scenic shot of the area.… Keep reading...
