In digging back into my archives, I didn’t get too far before noticing I hadn’t posted anything from a short trip to the Green River Lakes back in July. I was almost to the campgrounds when I saw this moose standing in the middle of the Green River, which originates up in the Wind River Mountains in Western Wyoming and meanders its way down to Central Utah where it meets up with the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park.… Keep reading...
I normally wouldn’t post this late at night, but I’m too excited about this one. When I was a kid there was a big solar storm and supposedly we could see the Aurora Borealis all the way down in New Orleans, Louisiana. I didn’t see the bright lights that you see in the photos so I was a little disappointed and shrugged it off, not actually taking a close look.… Keep reading...
Up in Gros Ventre Campground in Grand Teton National Park are a couple of Great Horned Owls with two owlets tucked away in a tree. The owlets naturally are drawing all the attention as they occasionally peek their heads out to see what all the commotion is about.… Keep reading...
This wolf is the alpha male of the Canyon Pack, 712M, in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming as of May, 2009. He was found in the Lamar Valley. When there’s a wolf or bear out in the open in Yellowstone National Park, it’s extremely rare to get a unique shot since there are other photographers standing right next to you.… Keep reading...
The first big stop on the way into Yellowstone National Park from the South Entrance is the West Thumb Geyser Basin. There’s all kinds of opportunities at any geyser basin for abstract photography, but for some reason I’m continually drawn to West Thumb, perhaps because it’s right on Yellowstone Lake.
