Fall Colors at Oxbow Bend

Fall Colors at Oxbow Bend, Grand Teton National Park

Fall Colors at Oxbow Bend

Yesterday I was hoping for a dramatic sunrise over the fall colors at Oxbow Bend in Grand Teton National Park. I was a little disappointed not just in the amount of photographers lined along the water’s edge, but also in an overcast sky that eventually brought some more heavy snowfall. Before the snow started to fall again, I headed just east of Oxbow Bend to the next pullout to get away from the crowds and get what turned out to be, in my opinion, a much more scenic shot of the area.… Keep reading...

Fall Colors Along Dirt Road

Fall Colors on Shadow Mountain

Fall Colors Along Dirt Road

I think this may be my favorite fall shot thus far this season. Earlier in the season I had driven up Shadow Mountain in Bridger-Teton National Forest for sunset and was stunned at the colors bursting off the leaves. I went back the other day, this time for sunrise and was thrilled to find that there was still plenty of color left along the entire road.… Keep reading...

Sunrise at Schwabacher Landing

Sunrise Over the Grand Teton Mountains at Schwabacher Landing

Last week I headed out to Schwabacher Landing for the first time in Grand Teton National Park for sunrise. The cottonwood trees along the Snake River were all in full transition to fall colors which only helped to make the scene that much more scenic. It’s a quiet and peaceful place just off Highway 89, but set back and down a hill enough so that road noise is minimal.… Keep reading...

Turquoise Waters of Delta Lake

Delta Lake in Grand Teton National Park

Turquoise Waters of Delta Lake

Believe it or not, this is not from the archives. I finally got my camera back yesterday after nearly a month and despite not getting the repairs done, it’s still working perfectly! I decided to head up into the Tetons this morning with my destination being Delta Lake to see how it looks on a clear day.… Keep reading...

Cautious Marmot

Curious Marmot in Grand Teton National Park

Cautious Marmot
A marmot cautiously peers from behind a boulder in Paintbrush Canyon of Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.

Hike pretty much anywhere in Grand Teton National Park and you’re bound to see marmots running all over the place; mostly away from you. I enjoy seeing them every time because watching them run always puts a smile on my face if for no other reason than it’s simply more of a waddle.… Keep reading...

Ramshead Lake Runoff

Creek Runoff from Ramshead Lake

Ramshead Lake Runoff

This is one of the last shots I took with my Canon 5D. The day I busted it, I had headed up to Lake of the Crags earlier that day and on the way to Lake of the Crags is Ramshead Lake. This is the creek that runs off of it that flows into Arrowhead Lake which eventually becomes the Ribbon Cascade in Hanging Canyon on its way into Jenny Lake.… Keep reading...
