For those that weren’t aware, the night of Friday, August 5th showed off a spectacular display of northern lights, visible even as far south as Utah and Colorado. Having only seen them here in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (thus far), this was by far the best I have ever seen! Motivation. It’s a term that’s become more and more foreign to me since living within Jackson, Wyoming, rather than on the northern fringes of it. I’ve noticed myself heading out to catch fewer sunsets because there’s a little bit of extra distance. I headed out with a couple of friends yesterday for a day-hike into Death Canyon in Grand Teton National Park to personally check on the snow levels deeper into the Tetons. I wasn’t expecting much as we approached the Phelps Lake Overlook on our way into the canyon, however the scene that unfolded as we crested the ridge was a surreal scene of spectacular natural beauty.… Keep reading...
I headed up to Grand Teton National Park for the weekend to try and find some more grizzly bear opportunities, however sightings are becoming more scarce these days as the heat of summer is beginning to set in. The wildflower and bear activity may be beginning to wind down (with some rather absurd restrictions being enforced by the park service, but I won’t get in to that now), but I was able to capture a few wildflower scenes before they all retreated from the valley.
