I often come back to the Flat Creek Overlook on the National Elk Refuge. It makes for an ideal location for a number of different types of photos. These can range from winter waterfowl shots, to birds in flight, or even, as is the case here, landscapes.

Every now and then, the northern lights make an appearance over Jackson Hole, Wyoming. On one such occasion, I was temporarily living in the town of Jackson instead my current home in Kelly, Wyoming, which discretely occupies a small southern corner of Grand Teton National Park. January and the new year usher in typically dry weather and blistering cold. This creates a lot of great opportunity for frigid portraits of wildlife, as well as landscapes in a deep freeze.
