The Mogollon Rim rises as high as 8000-9000 feet in some places and cuts through the middle of Arizona creating the southwestern border of the Colorado Plateau. Quite a number of Phoenicians, among others, head up to the higher elevations especially in the summer to escape the heat and find some good, high-country camping and outdoor activities. Along "The Rim" and into New Mexico spans the largest ponderosa pine forest in the continental United States as well. It’s one of the many unique geologic features that makes Arizona such a fun and diverse state.
