Escalante Petrified Forest State Park sits right outside of the town of Escalante, Utah, and also borders Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The small park boasts a fantastic couple of hiking trails that take visitors through a colorful petrified forest. Many examples of the ancient wood can be found scattered all along the trail, both in large logs, and small rocks.
