The Carey Lake Wildlife Management Area sits in the north-central part of the Snake River Plain, which itself stretches across southern Idaho. As a wildlife hotspot, the wildlife management area receives numerous birds both as residents, as well as migratory species passing through. Many of these can include red-winged blackbirds, yellow-headed blackbirds, American coots, marsh wrens, and much more. A boat launch even allows for visitors to take a kayak or canoe into the peaceful waters to explore its boundaries even further. For anyone who appreciates birds and birding, this is a must-stop for those passing through. It’s also an easy drive from nearby Craters of the Moon National Monument!
