El Malpais National Monument Information

Tucked away in the remote reaches of western New Mexico, El Malpais National Monument is a unique desert landscape shaped by geologic and volcanic processes. The Sandstone Bluffs are a popular trail-free area to hike around and explore, while La Ventana Arch is found conveniently near the main road, New Mexico's second largest natural arch.
